Need to know more about Yipiyap's in-school support?

Below are answers to some of the questions schools and colleges ask us most often. Or feel free to get in touch with us - we’ll be more than happy to talk you through anything you need to know.

  • All our Yipiyaps hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and complete our bespoke CPD-accredited safeguarding training at induction.

  • Support works best when it is in place for the full year because there is continuity of commitment from both school and tutor which is ultimately best for your pupils.

Support for shorter periods can usually be accommodated so let us know what you’re looking for and we’ll do all we can to help.

  • Our tutors (or Yipiyaps as we call them) are academic peer tutors who are highly competent and confident in the subjects they support. We have a rigorous recruitment process which ensures Yipiyaps are reliable and proactive and have a professional warmth learners will respond to. Where possible, we arrange for you to meet your Yipiyap before they start their placement.

  • Yipiyaps receive CPD-accredited training at induction and additional CPD-accredited resources every week throughout the year.

The training details how to support learners with a range of educational needs, including SEND, and discusses evidence-based approaches to pedagogy for tutors to deploy in their setting. Themes include questioning techniques, giving effective feedback, pace and encouraging a growth mindset.

  • As Tuition Partners of the National Tutoring Programme, Yipiyap support can be paid for by your NTP funding, or by many other commonly-used school funding streams such as Pupil Premium.

Need some guidance? We’ve got over a decade of experience helping schools and colleges make the most of their funding, so if you’re unsure of how your institution can pay for tutoring, get in touch and we’ll be happy to talk you through it.

  • At Yipiyap, safeguarding is top priority. We provide CPD-certified safeguarding training to all our tutors and meet all requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education.
