“Nothing but great things have occurred for me since being a Yipiyap.”

I just received the alumni email and thought I’d send a quick email as to what I have been doing since I was a tutor with Yipiyap in 2018-2019.

My experience being a Yipiyap was very beneficial, both professionally and with my overall confidence. It really did help me especially when I was applying for Dentistry. Nothing but great things have occurred for me since being a tutor, I am studying my dream degree and I am currently a 3rd Year Dental Student at the University of Manchester.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with you guys back in 2018-19.

“You’re constantly well supported in your role.”

This is currently my third year with the Yipiyap family, and it feels like no time has passed. For anyone who wants to have the chance to teach/tutor the opportunity is incredible.

The things that have made the years magical can’t easily be condensed into a single paragraph. As a Yipiyap you see the world from a vastly different perspective and, with the help of Senior Tutors and Regional Directors, not only do you get a rare, insightful experience but you’re constantly well supported in your role.

From the first time you get called ‘Miss’ or ‘Sir’, all the way to dealing with your first batch of GCSE year 11s (who gain so much from your perspective on topics you did not long ago), the moments you collect over the year(s) will stay with you forever.

There is a famous quote from Confucius: “Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life” and I feel it to be very true for this job I’ve rather luckily managed to land myself in.

“This will definitely transform my university journey.”

My gap year with Yipiyap has been one of the most challenging but best things I have ever done! I have developed professional skills, working with people in a diverse workforce, with different students of unique abilities and backgrounds, in an open minded and positive atmosphere.

I honestly feel I have developed so much this year, and whilst it hasn’t been easy, it will change both my perspective and my life going forward. This will definitely transform my university journey.
